Game of Thrones season 7 finale: Fans spot RETURN of Viserys Targaryen… Did you?

WARNING: This article contains spoilers for the Game of Thrones season seven finale.

With the knowledge that Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) is actually a true born Targaryen came an exciting flashback – but fans couldn’t help but wonder if an old character had returned from the dead.

Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) went back in time thanks to his Three-Eyed Raven status to validate whether Jon was born legitimately or not.

After having a tip-off from Samwell Tarly (John Bradley-West) that the King of the North’s true parents were actually married, mysterious Bran used his ability to see in order to confirm what was already thought.

As he observed the wedding of Rhaegar Targaryen (Wilf Scolding) and Lyanna Stark (Aisling Franciosi), Bran realised that Jon is the true heir to the Iron Throne.

However, fans appeared to be distracted by Rhaegar’s appearance, mistaking him for Daenerys’ (Emilia Clarke) slimy brother, Viserys (Harry Lloyd), who was brutally killed by thatgolden crown.

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: “Why didn’t they get a new wit for Rhaegar? He looked too much like Viserys. Spent it all on the White Walker dragon CGI.”

Another added: “Rhaegar looks like Viserys. Rhaegar is much more beautiful as described in the book.”

A third agreed, questioning: “Who else thought Rhaegar low key looked like Viserys?”

A fourth said: “Waited 7 years to see perfect man specimen Rhaegar Targaryen but instead we get some rando in greasy Viserys wig?” (sic).

Game of Thrones will return for its eighth and final season.
